Cold Waters Manual

A printed Owner's Manual, Navigation Manual, and Warranty Booklet are complimentary to the first registered owner, up to six months after vehicle purchase. These manuals require a valid VIN and mailing address. To purchase printed manuals, you can order online or contact. I still remember the high quality manual of Red Storm Rising. I don't hope for something THAT fancy, but reading the manual on PDF is a must, IMHO.

How to use x360ce emulator with Cold Waters on PCIn this tutorial you will find steps to make x360ce work with. This method also works with any game – just do the same easy steps, no special skills needed to make any controller work as an Xbox 360 gamepad. Emulator allows your controller (joystick, wheel, gamepad, etc.) to operate as the most common device, recognized by most of the games without any additional settings and workarounds.1. The first step is to download x360ce zip file from official site. You have to select 32 or 64 bit version (same as the version of Cold Waters you use).

If you don’t know the version of your game or download wrong one accidentally, you will be notified later and have a chance to use another version.2. Now we have to find the installation folder of your game. You can easily do this by looking into game shortcut settings or finding the game in your Steam library list. If you choose the Steam variant, right click the game name and select “Properties”.3. Navigate to “Local files” tab and press “Browse local files.” button.4. Now you need to find the folder with Cold Waters executable.

In the example picture they are located in Binaries / Retail subfolder. You need to extract downloaded x360ce ZIP file to folder with your game executable file. Click on x360ce exe file with the right mouse button and select “Run as administrator” from dropdown menu.6.

You will see window with warning – “xinput 13.dll was not found. This file is required for emulator to function properly.” Don’t worry, just click “Create” button to make them appear.7. When x360ce will inform you that new device was detected, use automatic search for settings from internet – just hit “Next” button.8.

Click “Finish”, when installation completed.9. Hit the “Auto” button to make all settings set to defaults.

Confirm changes by clicking “Yes” in popup window. All the buttons will be filled automatically.10. Now just hit “Save” button to make all your settings saved. You can also change buttons assignment before hitting “Save”, if you like. Now you can normally launch Cold Waters and use your controller with x360ce emulator – it will be starting automatically with each game launch.

When watching live streams of the great submariner and youtuber Jive Turkey , I noticed several questions appear regularly. I realized I once prepared similar guide for a friend so I updated and polished it and would like to publish it here for all new sub simmers. I'm not a great sub expert but I hope these will help new submariners to understand the game faster. If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer!Q: What is the layer and surface duct?A: I believe this innocent question is worth several thick scientific books.:) I tried to produce an answer that is simple without being too simplistic; sorry if I offended someone's scientific sensibilities:)Key points. layer or thermocline is a boundary between warmer surface water and colder deep water which acts as a kind of sound barrier, deflecting part of sound energy coming to it from above or below. The layer will not form if water is not deep enough.

High seas or currents will weaken the layer. Strong layer will deflect more sound energy, weak layer less. Current 'strength' and depth of layer is displayed in game in CONDITIONS tab.

A part of sound travelling from the surface downwards will be deflected by the layer and then curve back to the surface and then back to the layer etc. The sound is effectively 'funneled' between surface and layer - this is the Surface duct. The sound that penetrates the layer will then curve according to depth and temperature.

This creates ' shadow zone' just under the layer, where a sub can be hidden from surface ships (but at the same time it can't hear the surface ships). Sound waves reaching very deep waters will eventually return back to the surface in area called Convergence zone (CZ) as far as 30 miles away from source. CZ may let a ship hear other sources of sound that are too far for direct contact.

CZs form concentric circles around the source and targets can be heard over the horizon from 2nd or even 3rd CZ in good conditions. I'm really enjoying this game.

I remember fumbling through RSR as a kid and enjoying it with no real idea about what I was doing. The only real confusion I have comes with the different colour (yellow/red/purple) lines on the minimap. If someone could explain this aspect of the game to me it'd be really helpful as I feel the Ops Manual only briefly touches this. Are these lines what my Sonar is detecting? Are they pings from other vessels?Im assuming yellow lines are subs/ships, red are incoming torpedoes and purple is the direction of detected Radar signals? Thanks for this FAQ by the way!.
